Friday 1 February 2013

Week 16 - 01 Feb 2013 - Fri

74th day at SSMC, last day at SSMC.

Today is first day of the month (1st February 2013) but last day of the week (Friday) and last day of attachment! I will miss everyone!!! (^^)

As today is my last day in SSMC, I didn't really have any task to do. Well, maybe here's one? My supervisor had asked me to help her zipped her Excel files as the file sizes were large and are causing her computer to slow down. Plus, she had quite a lot of large Excel files. Thus, I had helped to perform this task. LOL...  (^^) Not really a task right? Hahaha... (^^)

Anyway, this is the end of my attachment! Just want to say thank you to my supervisor, Miss Pascale. I had learnt many many new knowledge and got to experience new things that I wasn't aware of. (^^)

Thank you, Miss Pascale. (^^)

Thursday 31 January 2013

Week 16 - 31 Jan 2013 - Thu

73rd day at SSMC.

Today is the last day of the month (31st January 2013), second last day of the week (Thursday) and second last day of attachment! LOL... How cool... (^^)

This morning, I had continued to finish up yesterday's GR&R calculation as the data was not completed yesterday. Thus, today's first task was to continue yesterday's unfinished task. (^^) However, the results obtained had error... >.< Wonder when will the result be alright? @.@ But my supervisor seems to have found out why does the result keep having problem, so I guess sooner or later, the result will be acceptable. (^^)

Today had a wonderful, joyful and sumptuous farewell lunch with my supervisor, manager and other colleagues @ Swensen. (^^)

After the enjoyable lunch, I had continued the GR&R calculations. Just when we thought that the results were finally acceptable, I found out that we had made a mistake... And it turned out to be unacceptable again... >.< After which, the vendor came up to the office and we used the data that he had and the result was acceptable! Yeah! Finally! (^^) I was clueless why did the result change so drastically until my supervisor had explained to me. @.@ Well well, at least one matter is resolved. (^^)

Wednesday 30 January 2013

Week 16 - 30 Jan 2013 - Wed

72nd day at SSMC.

Wednesday, third day of the week and this week left 2 days! (^^)

Today, I had helped my supervisor to recalculate the GR&R done yesterday as the result obtained yesterday was still unacceptable. This time round, my supervisor had asked me to divide all results by 50 and use the derived results to calculate the GR&R values. Although, the results change slightly, it was still unacceptable. Thus, my supervisor had decided to use another sample to run the data.

After which, I had helped my supervisor to create a one page summary regarding a tool update. The information was provided by supervisor and I only had transferred them into PowerPoint slides. Detail information on the tool will not be elaborated. ;P

After lunch, I had helped to extract data on wafer chipping to create trend chart for my supervisor. The extracting of data was easy compared to figuring the settings of the trend chart. I had spent more time on setting the chart rather than on extracting the data. >.<

After that, I had helped my supervisor to do another round of GR&R calculation using data of the new sample. Same thing was done; exporting data out and calculations done. :)

That's all for today.

Tuesday 29 January 2013

Week 16 - 29 Jan 2013 - Tue

71st day at SSMC.

Today is Tuesday, second day of the week. Attachment is down to the last 3 days. I feel weird counting down. I feel happy as attachment is ending soon but on the other hand I am also feeling sad as I'm leaving soon. Everyone is treating me so nice and friendly... I will definitely miss them! (^^)

In the morning, I had run through the steps on creating the charts, DCOPs and OCAP IDs using the software Tera Term with supervisor and had officially passed everything back to supervisor. LOL... My personal notebook was kinda useful when comes to referencing. Hahaha... Good thing is I had saved all information into the computer as soft copy so my supervisor will still have something to fall back on when I left. ;P

After lunch, I had helped my supervisor to do another round of GR&R calculations as the result derived yesterday was still unacceptable. Thus, I had exported out today's newly obtained data for the new set of calculations.

That's all for today.

Monday 28 January 2013

Week 16 - 28 Jan 2013 - Mon

70th day at SSMC.

This week will be the last week of my internship in SSMC and since today is Monday, my attachment is coming down to the last 4 days.

Today, my first task was to update some trend charts to their most recent values as this week is the last week of the month, I had updated the charts to show their values till week 4. After which, some charts had error referencing from the raw data and so supervisor had asked me to relink the data.

Just before lunch time, supervisor came back from fab with information regarding the tool recipe and had asked me to update the tool recipe for her. It was just adding more part IDs into the original list thus, not much time was used for this task. LOL... (^^)

In the late afternoon, just before supervisor had gone into the fab, I was tasked to do another GR&R calculation with the newly acquired data. And so, I had exported out the data and done the calculations.

That's all for today. Bye.

Friday 25 January 2013

Week 15 - 25 Jan 2013 - Fri

69th day at SSMC.

Last day of the week and attachment is coming down to the last 5 days for next week. (^^)

Only 1 task today, I had continued to finish up the translating of documents from Chinese to English for my supervisor. This time, I had inserted screen shots too. Although today only had this task, it took me almost the whole day to complete. I had to look for the right screen shots to be inserted from other reference documents and not from the original document. It's pretty time consuming though.

Anyway, nothing much to share for today, I guess. Weekends are here!!! Time to enjoy!!! (^^)

Thursday 24 January 2013

Week 15 - 24 Jan 2013 - Thu

68th day at SSMC.

My first task for today was to update the daily defect task. Today's data did not have any defect count, thus, it was an easy job done. I had simply updated the relative PowerPoint slides and the Excel tables. (^^)

After which, I was having quite some free time so I had looked through all tasks that I had done for this attachment, regardless of project related or not. I had also looked through my personal notebook that records all my daily happenings since the start of this attachment. It's felt like reading diary. LOL...

After lunch, supervisor had gone into the fab and I was tasked to design a proposal to discuss the idea of our project with the IT personnel. To give the IT personnel a better understanding of our idea, I had included information on what we are having now and what we would like to have with support from IT side.

That's about it for today. Tomorrow is Friday!! Ganbatte~~ (^^)

Wednesday 23 January 2013

Week 15 - 23 Jan 2013 - Wed

67th day at SSMC.

Today, I had experienced troubleshooting can be time consuming. We experienced an error in the Excel's formula and I had spent time troubleshooting it. It was finally resolved with my supervisor's help. It turned out to be errors from long before.

After which, I had 'undo' the classifications done in the wafers yesterday by changing all classifications to 'reject'. This was done because the result achieved yesterday was not acceptable. Thus, my supervisor had asked me to change all classifications back to the original state that is the reject status.

Continuing the classification task, I had exported the pre classification data out for another round of GR&R calculations. It sounded easy when describing however, it was really a time consuming and tedious task. >.< LOL...

In the later afternoon, supervisor had asked me to translate some documents from Chinese to English. Wonder if I had done it correctly, I am quite worried that I had misinterpreted some meanings... >.<

That's all for today.

Tuesday 22 January 2013

Week 15 - 22 Jan 2013 - Tue

66th day at SSMC.

Today was cold... Raining since morning, or was it from last night? Anyway, cold weather...

This morning I had continued to search and look for formula to display the respective DCOP  when the location is matched. I was stuck at this step since yesterday. I guess the Excel help function isn't so useful after all. I had tried several formula like 'IF', 'MATCH', 'LOOKUP' and more and even combining them, hoping to get what I want, however, the result wasn't successful.

Solution always comes after rounds and rounds of circle. I gad no idea how but I had finally managed to resolve this problem with the 'LOOKUP' function. After several tries, I had rearrange the locations in alphabetical order and the result turned out working perfectly. I was totally speechless when I achieved it. -.-

When you have nothing to do, something is better than nothing. Some errand tasks had helped me to pass time today. LOL... Well, at least I've gotten to explore more places in this company before attachment ends. Haha...

After lunch, my supervisor had asked me to do the classification of wafers for the runs done yesterday. Similar to the last time, I had only accepted or rejected based on the pictures of the wafers. After which, I had exported the data out to do the GR&R calculations. This task was really time consuming and tedious. LOL...

That's about all for today.

Monday 21 January 2013

Week 15 - 21 Jan 2013 - Mon

65th day at SSMC.

Today is the first day if week 15 which is also the second last week of my attachment. Time flies, 14 weeks had past and my attachment is coming to the last 9 days.

Last week, I had officially finished my project for this attachment and all school assignments are currently in process.

As the implementation period for my project is not within my attachment period, thus there is no official result achieved. However, my supervisor had allowed me to test the pilot run result to compare the before and after benefits that my project had brought about to the system.

And according to the pilot run result that I had obtained, the implementation if my project will be able to shorten the usual routine steps from 7 steps to 4 steps and the time spent on these steps will be reduced by 85%.

I really hoped that the pilot run result can bring about convenience to the company's system and increase their productivity.

Alright, back to today's tasks. As a start in this morning, I had helped to update some charts to their most recent values for report analysis purposes.

Next, supervisor had asked me to check the measuring point locations in the ball room area against the map drawn out by the OQA staff to see if the availability of the points matched. After which, I had created a list of DCOPs against the point locations and used formula to check if they are matched 1 to 1. This is done for the continuation of my project in the company, however, not for school purpose.

After creating the list of DCOPs and locations, we will need to consult the IT personnel on the idea of this further step. And good news was heard from the IT personnel! Thus, I had continued to do preparation steps.

That's all for today.

Friday 18 January 2013

Week 14 - 18 Jan 2013 - Fri

64th day at SSMC.

Today is the last day of week 14 and this means that attachment has left the last 2 weeks. But why am I not excited about it? Must be all the school assignments are keeping my happiness away from me... >.< LOL...

Anyway, this morning, as usual, I had updated the daily defect task and had helped my supervisor to create a PowerPoint slides regarding the fab shut down recovery status with information given by supervisor.

After which, my next task was to update an analysis Excel file with the information done from yesterday's root cause status Excel file task. After ensuring that the data inputted are correct, I had updated the analysis charts to the most recent values and I had used formula to calculate the values of the charts.

That's all for today.

Thursday 17 January 2013

Week 14 - 17 Jan 2013 - Thu

63rd day at SSMC.

Today, after meeting our LO in the morning, I had reported the drop test results on Monday to my supervisor as well as showed her the photographs that I have taken. Afterwards, I had updated the daily defect task as my first assigned task for today.

After which, supervisor had assigned me another task which is to update an Excel file regarding the root cause status of the report cases and the corresponding actions taken. For this task, I had checked the required information from the PowerPoint slides provided by supervisor and then indicated the information into the Excel file.

In the afternoon, I had another errand task as supervisor was busy in the fab, I had helped to collect back the wafers, used fir the drop test on Monday, from the vendor on her behalf. (^^)

After collecting the wafers back to the office, supervisor had asked me to open up the box and check if the wafers are intact that is whether there is any broken wafer. Since there is no broken wafers, the last test turned out to be successful too! (^^)

That's all for today! Tomorrow will be Friday! Hope that this will make my day. ;)

Monday 14 January 2013

Week 14 - 14 Jan 2013 - Mon

62nd day at SSMC.

Today, as my supervisor was on leave, I was tasked to update the charts in the weekly report to the most recent data on behalf of my supervisor.

After which, there was some errors in the Excel file that I had improved on. The data was inserted under the wrong defect type. Thus I had spent some time troubleshooting for the cause of the errors and the solution. It was resolved in the end. (^^)

Last week, I was told by my supervisor to go for a drop test on her behalf today. And in the afternoon, I had met up with the vendor at the warehouse to collect the 4 boxes of wafers for the test before proceeding to the place for the test. I had taken photos during the test as evidence for my supervisor.

For this week, tomorrow and Wednesday are company off days and we are not required to work!!! Time for resting (^^) and school assignments >.<

Time flies? This attachment left the last 3 weeks including this week...

Friday 11 January 2013

Week 13 - 11 Jan 2013 - Fri

61st day at SSMC.

Today is Friday! This morning I had checked the environment monitoring data for the month December, on behalf of my supervisor. After enduring the data tally, I had returned to supervisor for signing.

After which, supervisor had downloaded an Excel file with the formula calculating GR&R. And I had used it to calculate the result of supervisor's data. GR&R stands for Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility and it is used to assure measurement system is used adequate for the purpose it is being used. I know it's complicated. Anyway, I had pasted the data values into the Excel file and the result had appeared. (^^)

After lunch, supervisor had taught me how to do classification for the wafers that is to check each wafer picture and determine whether that part is accepted or rejected. For pictures that show stain or scratch-like thing, I will reject those parts. I had done classification for 3 runs of wafers and exported the data out of the system.

After which, I had to insert the classification data into Excel file to summarise the data into table. After summarising the data, I had inserted that summarised result into the GR&R Excel file to get the result.

That's all for today. Time to enjoy weekends!!

Thursday 10 January 2013

Week 13 - 10 Jan 2013 - Thu

60th day at SSMC.

Today, my supervisor had reviewed with me regarding the poster that I have done as school assignment and improvements have been made to it.

After which, my department head had reviewed my school report and similarly, changes were done. If everything goes well, I may be able to finish my school assignments beforehand. (^^)

After lunch, I had helped my supervisor to update an analysis PowerPoint. I had updated the charts in the PowerPoint to 2012 data.

After finishing the task, I continued to do my school report and got it ready to be shown to my department head for the last round. And if it's okay, my supervisor will send it out for me. Yeah! Hope it's okay. (^^)

The rest of my free time was spent on improving my poster but i am still not confident with it. Hope I can do a good poster.

That's all for today. Byebye.

Wednesday 9 January 2013

Week 13 - 09 Jan 2013 - Wed

59th day at SSMC.

This morning I had helped my supervisor to update an Excel file by inserting the raw data into a table which will be analysed by the pivot table and the analysed results will be displayed in another table.

For this task, there were some inconsistency in the raw data, most probably were due to human errors during data entry. Thus, I had double checked the unusual raw data with the individual report on the lot ID and then correct the raw data in the Excel file before I insert the raw data into the table.

After finishing this task, I carried on to create a document on the list of chart IDs that we have as it is required by the IT personnel to link the triggering system to the charts that we have. (^^)

After lunch, I had followed my supervisor into the fab again to teach the MAs on the steps for data entry into the database, with the help of my training guides. I had included screen shots of the steps to allow clearer understanding of the MAs.

After showing the MA the steps, she gave us her feedback on the new procedures and during the discussion, problems arises.

After which, I had went back to the office to do a PowerPoint on the tasks that I had completed and the problems that we met. My supervisor will be using this PowerPoint to discuss with the IT personnel on the solution to all the problems we faced.

 That's all for today.

Tuesday 8 January 2013

Week 13 - 08 Jan 2013 - Tue

58th day at SSMC.

Today, supervisor had asked me to create a reference for the DCOPs for the MAs in the fab. As there is just too much for them to remember and it will be time consuming for their to search for the required DCOP. Thus, I was supposed to create one that will be easier for them to look for the required DCOP. And supervisor had said that when we do things, we must make sure it is easy and straight forward when executing. Hence, the DCOP that I had done must be able to allow the MAs to get their work done quickly.

The DCOPs arrangement in the DCOP reference that I've done was same as how the points, in the form that the MAs had been using all these years' are arranged in. Thus, they should be able to get used to it soon. And it had been approved by my supervisor. (^^)

The next task I had was to edit the SOP report on this project. My supervisor had checked through and told me what other information that has to be added in. Screen shots of the procedures can also be added in to make the report easier for understanding. This is somewhat similar to the training guides that I've done in the earlier days of this attachment.

After which, I had edited some miscellaneous things and that's about it for today. See you. (^^)

Monday 7 January 2013

Week 13 - 07 Jan 2013 - Mon

57th day at SSMC.

Today started my day in SSMC by helping my supervisor to update the charts and tables in an analysis PowerPoint. As the charts and tables are pasted into the PowerPoint as links, thus when you double clicked on them, you will be brought to the respective Excel files.

After I was linked to the Excel files, I had updated the charts and tables into the 2013 version. And after doing so, when I 'update link' in the charts and tables in the PowerPoint, they will display the 2013 version.

After which, my following task was to insert the information given by my supervisor into the Excel file and using all the information inserted, I did a calculation summary out of it. Though my description in here sounds short and simple, the second task took me quite some time.

After lunch, I was free to do my school report. As I had only 4 weeks left to the end of thus attachment, thus, I have to speed up a little. (^^)

That's all for today. Byebye.

Friday 4 January 2013

Week 12 - 04 Jan 2013 - Fri

56th day at SSMC.

Today, I had started off with the updating of the daily defect task. During which, one of the lot was sent out and in normal cases, this will be considered as a defect count. However, my supervisor had asked me to pull out the individual report of that lot and after checking its report, that lot was actually not a defect count. Thus, there was no defect count for today.  And when there is no defect count, the daily defect task will be much simpler to update.

After which, my supervisor had told me to follow her into the fab later in the afternoon to review the SPC charts that I've done. This was done during her free time while waiting for the equipment to finish running.

However, the main purpose of me going into the fab cleanroom was actually to teach the MAs the new procedures of using the SPC charts. As they have to familiarise with the new procedures so that they can adapt more quickly when they switch to using the new procedures.

After lunch, I had helped my supervisor to create an acknowledgement form which wad checked by my supervisor when we had gone into the fab.

While we were in the fab, the training guide that I had done earlier was still not able to be put into use. I had showed my supervisor on the steps to enter the measured values; however, we had discovered a loophole. Thus, Miss Pascale asked me to return to the office and consult an IT engineer for the solution to the loophole we found.

After consulting the IT engineer, I reported to Miss Pascale that the IT emgineer mentioned that there is no way out for the loophole. Thus, we can only result to the last solution which I think I am not supposed to share it so openly. Haha.

After which, I had went back to the office to do some follow ups of my report and task description for the week.

That's all for today and finally weekends are here! Time to have a good rest

Thursday 3 January 2013

Week 12 - 03 Jan 2013 - Thu

55th day at SSMC.

Today, I had updated the daily defect task and also had amended yesterday's PowerPoint slides as I had accidentally pasted the information from the 2012 Excel file. After I had checked through and changed the information to the one copied from the 2013 file, I sent the file link to my supervisor for checking.

After which, supervisor was too busy to assign me other task, so I had continued to do my school report.

After lunch, I had helped supervisor to do some miscellaneous tasks here and there. But most of my free time was spent on doing my school report. (^^)

That's about it for today.

Wednesday 2 January 2013

Week 12 - 31 Dec 2012 & 02 Jan 2013 - Mon & Wed

53rd & 54th day at SSMC.

Today is 02 Jan 2013 but I will also be sharing Monday's events. ;)

For 31 Dec 2012, it was an early release where we ended at 3pm. What's better was we had team building activities that day. We had played games from 10am to 12noon. Besides, the prizes for playing the games, we also had lucky draws too.

After which, we went to The Square@Furama to have our buffet lunch!!! How cool was that! I was so lucky to be involved. I had fun that day being one of the game organisers, watching the participants played the games. One of the teams had even danced Gangnam style for additional points (^^). I had enjoyed myself that day.

For today, I had updated the daily defect task for today and yesterday. As today is the 2nd Jan 2013, we have changed to use the new 2013 version thus I took a little longer time then usual.

After which, I had updated an Excel file by inserting the information given by supervisor.

And finally, I had created a PowerPoint using the information given by supervisor.

The rest of my free time today, supervisor had allowed me to do my school report. (^^)

That's all for today and Monday. From now on, for those who are still writing date like me, please remember it's 2013 and not 2012 anymore. (^^)
